Do you want to enjoy your stay in Lyon to discover the surrounding countryside? Do you like hiking?

Even if you do not have a car, you can easily find several circuits accessible by bus to discover the Rhone river, the massif of the mountains of Or, the Val de Saône, the small valleys of the West Lyonnais or the plains of the 'Is.

The "Grand Parc" of Miribel-Jonage

Unmissable outing for Lyon, the Grand Parc is accessible by bus 83 (to take from Metro line A) or by bike if you have muscles! You can walk there but also bathe there. There are several swimming areas along the lake.

You can also have a barbecue with friends (several barbecue sites are open access) but you must arrive early to reserve a location.

A resource center: the Maison de l'Environnement (Lyon 7)

This place is an ecological association where you will be able to find free documentation on the nature and in particular maps and guides of the natural paths on the Metropolis of Lyon (most are accessible with the TCL buses). They are free and open access when the place is open.

An online map to prepare for your hikes

On the site of the Lyon Metropolis, you can search for rides based on time and difficulty. The map will refer you to a detailed walker card with map and TCL bus access information.

Some tips before leaving

It can quickly be hot so do not forget your sunscreen and a water bottle filled with water. Be careful, there are no bins on the trails so everyone has a bag for their garbage (or even better, prepare a zero waste outlet!).
