Bienvenü, a new service to help you upon your arrival in Lyon!

Bienvenü, what is it? Michaël experienced international mobility and had the idea to launch Bienvenü, a structure that offers you a personalized accompaniment package upon your arrival in Lyon.

In 2007, I went to Sweden as part of the European Voluntary Service program. It was an extremely enriching experience, both from a personal and professional point of view. This programme, experienced as a young beneficiary, developed my interest for international mobility and so I decided to go over to the other side of the fence. In other words, allowing other young people to have the opportunity to have this kind of experience. Afterwards, I worked at the mobility office of the French Centre in Berlin, then in the international relations department of a university in Lyon for almost 5 years, where I was in charge of coordinating programs with Australia, India, and New Zealand, and managing visa and residency card dossiers. Then I wanted to launch my own structure by developing different services, especially more personalised ones for welcoming students.

Michaël, who'll help you during your journey

What’s in the Bienvenü packages?

The Bienvenü packages offer a complete accompaniment, from the preparation of your arrival to your landing at the airport and all throughout your stay. The goal is to enable students to integrate as quickly as possible in the city of Lyon.

Before your arrival, Michaël is there to answer all of your practical questions and will prepare a personalised guide for you according to your tastes and your expectations. He can also help you look for accommodation.

Upon your arrival, he will come pick you up at the airport and will accompany you in your administrative procedures. If you need temporary housing, he has set up a partnership with the Flâneur Guesthouse (youth hostel) and will accompany you in your search for accommodation (including visits if necessary). Two other partnerships (Lyon Explorer and a French-as-a-Foreign-Language {FLE} teacher) will allow you to experience an alternative tour of Lyon (in English or in French) and an educational class on Lyonnaise expressions.

All throughout your stay, he’ll send you useful information about Lyon and will be there in case of any problems. A kind of super-godfather, in short!

Having lived it, going abroad is both exciting and terrifying. The Bienvenü pack enables you to be reassured by having a privileged on-site contact who accompanies you leading up to your arrival, takes charge of the purely administrative aspects, welcomes you, allows you to optimise the experience right from the start thanks to the personalised quality of the package, and ensures a follow-up in case of glitches. It can be very useful for students who need more in-depth support, but also for those who will live in Lyon for only one semester.

Whether you’re a student (Erasmus or not), a volunteer with EVS, or a trainee, the Bienvenü packages are available for around twenty young people each semester.

The Bienvenü pack is for international students who want to feel at home in Lyon, as quickly as possible.

But wait, there’s more…

Bienvenü is a structure that also develops other services in the field of international mobility, especially setting up events that promote international mobility and interculturality (conferences, film-debates…) for institutions, companies, or associations based in Lyon.
